The Tribal Women as the Change Agent

Using ICT as an Enabler

A project ideated & implemented by

The development of any country refers to the all round development of the different sections of society.  The gaps between haves and have-nots, between the rich and the poor must be drastically reduced to attain this. The widening socio-economic gaps between urban sites and rural areas must be bridged to attain an egalitarian society.

Today, there are still many communities that exist in poor conditions with meager capacity to sustain life and livelihood. The tribal community is one such community in India that still faces larger challenges of education, health, livelihood generations, and other basic infrastructures. For instance, there are primary schools but only few girls reach the higher secondary level. Further, due to inadequate water supply and unhygienic water storage system the tribal citizens, especially the children are suffering from common diseases like typhoid, malaria and other water born diseases.

The fruits of development are yet to actually reach the tribal communities who are still living in primitive modes of social, cultural and economic practices. It is thus extremely important to empower the tribal communities, and mainstream them through greater and advanced thrusts in critical areas of education, health and livelihood. One important focus here must be on specific measures to capacitate and empower women members of the tribal communities.
